Occupational Therapist, Courtney, recently completed an online course called “3 Steps to Improving Interoception: An Evidence-based Approach.”  Courtney attended this online course to gain more awareness on the topic of interoception. Interoception is a lesser-known sense that helps you understand and feel what is going on inside your body. Children who struggle with the interoceptive sense may have trouble knowing when they feel hungry, full, hot, cold, or thirsty.

Courtney learned a variety of effective strategies to support children with underlying interoception skills that are necessary to maximize emotional understanding, regulation, behavior, language, and social participation. Courtney believes this training is useful for her to provide practical solutions to increasing awareness of bodily functions and internal body feelings.
